Dill Pickle teams up with Windy City Harvest apprenticeship program

Amber Zook, Dill Pickle's produce lead, recently visited Arturo Velasquez Institute on the city's near-west side to speak with students enrolled in Windy City Harvest's sustainable urban agriculture apprenticeship program about working with local farmers and marketing produce to regional buyers. The Dill Pickle prioritizes local produce works with WCH to source seasonally from their small farms across the city.

The Windy City Harvest Apprenticeship program is offered in collaboration with the City Colleges of Chicago, annually enrolling 20 students in a nine-month classroom and hands-on certificate course in sustainable urban agriculture. The accreditation attracts a diverse group of students: career changers, young adults with a history of incarceration, and those with significant barriers to employment, and includes a 14-week paid internship at Windy City Harvest farms or partnering urban-farming operations. The Dill Pickle is proud to support this program!
