The Dill Pickle's 2,400+ fellow owners are counting on a few leaders like you to step up to serve our co-op as we shape the future in our new store— run for one of four open seats on our Board of Directors!
How to apply:
Review the Director Job Description. Regular meetings are currently held monthly on the third Monday, 6-9pm.
Complete the Candidate Application by October 12 (EXTENDED!) for the term starting November 2018.
Attend an Ownership Orientation or Coffee with the Board event to learn more!
Attend the Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 4, 6-8pm at Hairpin Arts Center.
What does the board do?
Ultimately, the Dill Pickle’s Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring the Dill Pickle Food Co-op fulfills its mission while thoroughly upholding fiduciary responsibilities. It also engages with owners to represent their needs, oversees the General Manager through Policy Governance, supervises the financial status of the co-op, and sets the direction and vision for the co-op’s long-term goals.
who should apply?
The Dill Pickle Food Co-op is enriched by its surrounding geographic community and the incredible spectrum of experiences, histories, hopes and needs therein. In this way, its Board of Directors prioritizes candidates who represent the socioeconomic, racial and ethnic perspectives and lived experiences of people across all parts of the greater Logan Square/Avondale area.
Additionally, to combat the oppressive societal forces that have kept disenfranchised communities away from positions of power, we especially encourage director candidates who identify as people of color, queer, genderqueer, people of different abilities, women, transgender people, and other underrepresented identities to apply.
To be qualified as a director, you must:
Be 18+ years old
Be an owner for at least 6 months prior to the start of the election process (April 1, 2018)
Not have any overriding conflict of interest with the co-op
Employees who meet the qualifications are eligible for election as long as no more than two employees serve on the Board of Directors at any given time. (See Bylaws, Article IV, Section 4.2)
There are four board seats open for the upcoming Board cycle: three rotating seats for 3-year terms each and one additional seat with 1-year remaining on its term.
