Seed-Starting Workshop

Hosted by our pals at Corner Farm Chicago:

IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR OUTDOOR HOBBIES!

But this is a cute indoor event. Each year we start dozens of plants indoors (peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, and more!) so they can have a better chance to later grow outside.

Whether you're interested to garden with us this year, or you just want to put a bunch of seeds into dirt cups with your neighbors, join us!

We'll use as many seedlings as we can for the garden, where we grow food with Christopher House, but each guest is encouraged to take seedlings home to save for their own garden.

*~What to expect~*
We'll open the day with a quick info session about Corner Farm for anyone interested to join as a volunteer gardener this season (April-October). We'll spend the rest of the time making seedlings together. If you plan to take seedlings home, consider how they'll travel (e.g. if biking, do you have a crate/basket?).

*~What to bring~*
--thin garden gloves (this task is usually easier without gloves)
--any of the following to hold your seedlings: solo cups; egg cartons; empty toilet paper rolls (though we should have enough to share)
--a sharpie or waterproof pen to label plants (we will bring some, too)

*~What we'll provided~*
--soil
--seeds
--limited supply of egg cartons, cardboard tubes, etc. to hold seedlings (we will most likely have enough for everyone)
--seed starting knowledge!

This event is free, open to the public, and family friendly. Plants love all ages! Dill Pickle Food Co-op is wheelchair accessible and has restrooms for everyone. Prepared and fresh food available for purchase through the Co-op.
