Founding organizer of the Dill Pickle Food Co-op

Kath Duffy began the organizing effort for the Dill Pickle in 2005 with a message to friends, envisioning a local co-op that would offer good, affordable food for everyone. She worked with a dedicated group of neighbors to usher that vision into reality on community funding, opening our store doors in 2009. Kath served on our board of directors and remained a trusted advisor as the co-op grew from its initial 500 to over 2,000 active owners.

And now, to continue growing into that vision, the Dill Pickle is expanding! This September, we're moving to a 10,000 sq ft building at 2746 N. Milwaukee Ave that will allow us to provide a wider range of products at better prices, purchase more from local farms, create 30+ new jobs, and demonstrate the power of cooperation on a much larger scale.

Kath Duffy expanded into the universe on July 20, 2017. It was a peaceful transition into time, space, and eternal love. Kath devoted 100% of herself to the projects and people she cared about. During hospice, she requested that friends continue to support her vision for the co-op's expansion:

At the Dill Pickle, you can buy healthy foods, produced with integrity, from local farmers and producers. As a member of the community, we’ve created jobs and support other neighborhood organizations and businesses. I hope you will join me in taking the opportunity to invest in our shared community resource as we plan for our next phase of growth.
